
Chris Marathe
Chris has extensive experience in the Financial, FMCG, brand , strategy and analytics environment. Chris, an accountant by training started his career in the audit profession with Coopers and Lybrand(precursor to PWC) before moving on to marketing and distribution with the then Rothmans International the precursor to British American Tobacco (BAT).
In 1999 Chris moved into the branding industry where he spent a decade consulting on strategy, creative and brand mainly in sub saharan africa with leading firms including Interbrand Sampson Chris’s unique experience across various sectors and background in both finance and branding allows him to give insightful perspectives on brand and strategy whilst remaining respectful to the real needs and challenges of an organization within a dynamic business environment. In this area he has led advisory teams on Brand M&A ‘s Brand Valuations, Licensing and Royalty Frameworks structuring , IPO.s, Product Structuring and Organizational Restructurings across multiple sectors including mobile companies, FMCG’s, Governments, banks and financial services entities across Africa including MTN, Standard Chartered, ABSA, Nedbank ,Housing Finance, Mondi, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, Debswana, Medscheme and the Kenya Ports
Authority to mention a few. Chris is a leading proponent of the use of brand and financial analytics in the pursuit of sustainable value creation.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from the University of Botswana and sits on a number of advisory boards
